U.S. WWI M1917 Helmet – 77th Infantry Division, 307th Infantry Regiment, Company “E”

Original U.S. Model 1917 steel helmet bearing post-Armistice painted insignia of the 77th Infantry Division. The 77th Division, composed largely of draftees from New York City, served in France during World War I, notably in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918. The 307th Infantry Regiment was part of this division, and Company E saw active combat during the final months of the war. Post-war painted helmets like this were commonly worn for occupation duty and parades after the Armistice.
