U.S. Navy 40mm M25 Shells – Lot 526 & Lot 527, 1945
-
Pair of U.S. Navy 40mm M25 shells, dated 1945, from sequential lots 526 and 527. Designed for use with the 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun, these shells were compatible with HE-T (High Explosive-Tracer) or AP-T (Armor-Piercing Tracer) rounds, often featuring self-destruct fuzes for safety. The M25 cartridge cases are marked “40 mm,” “M25,” “1945,” and their respective lot numbers. These rounds were a key component of U.S. naval AA defenses during World War II, including against kamikaze attacks in the Pacific theater.
