Original World War II-era U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Mae West life jacket, issued to aviators and naval personnel for emergency flotation. These jackets were named “Mae West” for their distinctive inflated shape when worn and were a standard piece of survival gear throughout the war. This example features markings that may indicate it was manufactured by Surfer Atwood, one of several wartime contractors producing life jackets for the U.S. military.
