Post-War Czech reissued WW2 German M40 Helmet
-
A WWII German M40 steel helmet that was postwar reissued to Czechoslovak forces, retaining much of its Czech refurbishment and service history. The helmet features a postwar Czech-applied repaint and a dyed liner, with traces of the removed Czech lion decals still visible where a previous collector attempted to restore the helmet back to a wartime German appearance.
The shell, marked, “ET66”, retains its original wartime German components, including a 1941-dated Berlin-manufactured chinstrap.Rather than a fully restored example, this helmet reflects both its original German WWII traits and its later Czech military modifications upon reissue and refurbishment after the war.
