Very early US Air Force Recruiting Service banner
-
This early United States Air Force Recruiting Service banner dates to the late 1940s or early 1950s, shortly after the Air Force became an independent branch in 1947. Measuring an impressive 10 feet by 4 feet, this large banner would have been used for recruiting events, patriotic displays, or military installations..
Constructed of heavyweight blue fabric, the banner features individually stitched gold lettering reading “U.S. AIR FORCE” and “RECRUITING SERVICE”. The centerpiece displays an early Air Force emblem with the eagle and shield hand-painted on silk panels that have been sewn onto the banner.
